In support of the community that’s home to its global headquarters, this year for the first time Simplot was a sponsor of the Treefort Music Festival in Boise. The fest, which welcomed 500 bands over five days at the end of March, is a premiere arts and cultural event in the Treasure Valley.
“Treefort has become an anchor event for downtown Boise over the past decade for both locals and visitors,” said Josh Jordan, Associate Director of Global Communications and Public Relations for Simplot. “Given its close proximity to our campus headquarters, we saw an opportunity to participate and give attendees a chance to interact with our brand, learn more about the Company and sample some of our famous fries.”
More than 60 Simplot volunteers contributed 256 total volunteer hours to staff and support the Company’s three booths: At the Main Stage performance area Wednesday through Sunday; at Hackfort, Treefort’s tech-focused “sub-Fort” Thursday through Saturday; and at a special Simplot Fry Fest on Saturday. At the booths Simplot volunteers shared with potential new employees and other community members information about the Company’s business and culture. They also handed out Simplot-branded cow-shaped keychains, which were extremely popular.
Fry Fest was a Simplot-hosted, Treefort-related event in the park between Simplot HQ and JUMP. Amazing employee volunteers served more than 1,200 servings of fries to eager guests who braved the weather for their favorite potato product. The event also served as a free second-chance venue to see Treefort performers, including Demob Happy, a UK-based rock band. The musicians made a point to share with the crowd that they were very impressed with the quality of Simplot’s “chips!”
Simplot’s Treefort sponsorship offered a great opportunity to participate in a community event and demonstrate our passion for people. “It was great to visit with the folks who stopped by to learn more about our Company during Treefort,” said Jordan. “And we are so thankful for the generous support of our employee volunteers who made it happen.”
