Mexico and Guatemala

The plant in Morelia, Michoacan, is a joint venture between Simplot and Mission Produce. It processes avocados picked from select Mexican growing areas into guacamole, avocado pulp, avocado halves, and related ready-to-eat avocado products.

The items are sold to quick-service restaurant chains, foodservice and industrial customers, and supermarkets through co-pack relationships, primarily in the U.S. and Europe. Other customers are located in Mexico, Asia, and Canada.

Simplot is the largest producer of frozen avocado products in the world.

MarBran, a business entity owned by Simplot and a privately held Mexican company, operates three vegetable processing plants in the state of Guanajuato – two at Irapuato and one at Jaral.

MarBran is the largest packer of frozen broccoli in North America. MarBran plants also handle frozen, organic and fresh cauliflower and carrots as well as frozen Brussels sprouts, yellow squash, sugar snap peas, zucchini, snow peas, stir fry and vegetable blends, and organic and fresh broccoli.

MarBran’s plant in Guatemala processes broccoli, cauliflower, sugar snap peas, mangos, papaya, cantaloupe, and honeydew melons.

The products are distributed in the United States, Canada, Europe, and Japan to a client base composed mainly of supermarkets and companies that use Simplot veggies as ingredients for their products, including entrees and side dishes.
